noun. A cantina is a type of bar popular in Mexico and Spain: in Italy “canteen” is the Italian word for a cellar, winery, or vault. In Italy, a cantina refers to a room below the ground level where wine and foods are stored.
At the La Habra Tamale Festival, The La Habra Collaborative recreates this “old world” cantina atmosphere, serving ice cold beer and margaritas to those enjoying the Festival. The Cantina is the Collaborative’s only fundraiser. The funds raised annually are used toward administering and implementing the Collaborative’s four focus areas: Combating Childhood Obesity, Reducing Homelessness, Helping Teen Mothers, and Improving Family Literacy.
